Patient Flow Simulation Using Historically Informed Synthetic Data

چکیده
Hospital overcrowding is a major problem for healthcare systems around the globe. In order to better estimate future demands and adequate resources coping with such demands, statistical computerised modelling can be applied. This then allow administrators decision makers quantify impacts of various “what-if” scenarios on hospital performance measures. paper investigates application Discrete Event Simulation towards optimising Emergency Department while measuring overall length stay queuing time emergency patients as target measure. particular, we explore strategies generating historically informed synthetic data that helps simulation model track patient flow through over frame. Using developed model, several resource configurations are tested using from one busiest departments in state Queensland baseline quantifying changes key metrics. It was found adding single bed (and associated resources) department would result 23% decrease average treatment delay.

“historically Informed” Corpus Studies
MUSICIANS CAN CHOOSE BETWEEN VARIOUS “historicist” or “presentist” ways of performing works from the past. Music scholars who study early music sometimes are forced to make similar choices. If one thinks of corpus studies in music as an objective form of counting the “elements of music,” the question of what constitutes an “element” can involve similar historicist/presentist dilemmas. The artic...
متن کاملThorax organ dose estimation in computed tomography based on patient CT data using Monte Carlo simulation
Background: This study presents patient specific and organ dose estimation in computed tomography (CT) imaging of thorax directly from patient CT image using Monte Carlo simulation. Patient's CT image is considered as the patient specific phantom and the best representative of patient physical index in order to calculate specific organ dose. Materials and Methods: EGSnrc /BEAMnr...
متن کاملAtrioventricular Blood Flow Simulation Based on Patient-Specific Data
We propose a new framework for simulating blood flow inside the heart, usable with geometric models of the heart from patientspecific data. The method is geared toward realistic simulation of blood flow, taking into account not only heart wall motion but also valve motion. The simulator uses finite differences to discretize a domain that includes a functional model of the left ventricle and the...
متن کاملUsing video-taped examples of standardized patient to teach medical students taking informed consent
Introduction: Medical student should be trained in medicalethics and one of the most essential issues in this field is takinginformed consents. In this research, we compared the effect ofeffectiveness of teaching methods on students’ ability in takinginformed consent from patients. Methods: This semi-experimental study was carried out on fiftyeight subjects from the 4th-year students of Shiraz U...
متن کاملThe Flexible Patient Flow Simulation Framework
Hospital congestion and the many associated healthcare delivery cost and quality issues are caused or exacerbated by decisions made without understanding system-level patient flow. Without patient flow models, decisions that affect the entire system are made considering only the effect on a small subsection of the system. This paper presents a flexible simulation framework as a powerful tool fo...
